A week away

Well, it's Sunday evening. We only arrived back from Paris yesterday evening and we're going away again in the morning, so I'm trying to struggle through a mound of laundry and packing to have a quick look at lj before I wander off into another internet free zone!

We had a great time in Paris, both Disneyland and central Paris. The weather was fantastic except for a couple of tremendous thunderstorms and we had lots of fun!

I will just post some photos to give the flavour of our week rather than attempt to describe our week in detail, see ringbark's journal for more details!

First some photos from the Disney Parks

I'll try to post some more photos and some more news before I set off in the morning, but right now my bed is calling my name...

So glad you enjoyed it! Read ringbark's post as directed. We went to Paris (first time for me)for my 60th birthday - OMG that's nearly two years ago!!!! Some of my favourite memories (this was in October, you understand):
a choir of nuns singing glorious music in Sacre Coeur then watching the Eiffel Tower light up from just outside the church; being at the top of the Eiffel Tower in a huge thunderstorm; a picnic in the Tuileries gardens; Notre Dame followed by a trip on a river bus; the opera house; more art galleries than I can count. Where are you off to next?

My previous visit to Sacre Coeur was in the evening during a service and it was one of my most lovely experiences,(20 years ago now). Even a daytime visit with the family failed to destroy that impression!

We are now in Keswick, staying in a cottage, which a family at church own. They offered us a week rent free here as a thank you for organising "Won World Weekend" so it a bonus holiday in a really lovely spot. Sadly it is also very, very wet which limits what we can do here!

Oh goodness - the lake district in the rain!! I went to boarding school there so I know! But if you've got a week it might improve! If not, try the coast - it tends to be a bit drier.
