Flowers, music and paint

Yesterday the lilies I was given for my birthday opened up, they are really beautiful, here is a single bloom:

I also painted a picture I'm really pleased with yesterday, using the new metallic paints, I've already converted it into an icon, but here is the whole picture and the words that inspired it:

Yes it's difficult, our hearts are full of fear,

Our anger and our hatred, we gathered through the years,

But here's the cross of Jesus, and His open hearted love

Is flowing like a river, and out to everyone.

We are one body, our life is in the lamb,

Our bonding is the Spirit, held by the Father's hand.

Last night Mum, Margaret and I went to see The Gondoliers at a theatre called the Brindley in Runcorn. Ian was to have come too but he finished work too late to make it. The theatre was lovely, only two years old and very comfortable. There was a magnificent view of the Runcorn Bridge all lit up when you came out of the theatre too. The production was an amateur one but the sets were magnificent, as were the costumes. The performance was well done, though it was their first night and there were a few ragged edges, especially between the orchestra and singers, but that didn't detract from the enjoyment really.

Today I will be going to Little Fishes and Housegroup. Need to go to the shops, make playdough and place an Asda order too...

It has so much motion and drive - the painting, not the flower. Two beautiful things on one page. I do love the colours in the blue of your painting, the silvery light is wonderful.

The flower is absolutely perfect. What a gift.

I was really pleased with the painting, I think it captured the movement really well!

I'm now sitting eating a mushroom omlette (which I cooked at the same time as the playdough!) looking at the lilies - they smell beautiful and look lovely too!

Oh I loooooooooove mushrooms. I have a whole cookbook just for mushrooms!

Well, lunch with mushrooms and lilies sounds wonderful. I'm going to bed to read someone else's writing. And I'm not sure whose, I have about five books to read just now piled up by the bed. Have a great afternoon.

Thank you, that is what the metallic paints are really good for, they reflect the light so effectively!
