I've just been trying to describe the differences between New Zealand bush and English woodland, and just couldn't find the right words to describe the subtle differences...So I have resorted to some pictures of the woods at the bottom of my garden to give an impression of English "bush", albeit a somewhat wintery impression!

Wow, that really is incredibly different. It doesn't have the dense glossiness that we have, but it has beautiful pastel shades that we don't. Smoky kind of shading that softens the edges of the leaves and makes it into - I dunno, like a chalk pastel kind of look. Ours would have to be oil pastel LOL!
I loved the purply-mauve hues in your pics. I think overall the lavender sort of colours might be more common over your way, huh.

Thanks for your photos, it makes such a difference to really see it all. Just amazing really.

They are really different, and I love them both for different reasons, there are aspects of both which I treasure...the English woodland seems more delicate, the New Zealand bush richer somehow.
Both beautiful, both special, but definitely different!
