But am I brave enough to wear it in public?

The whole point about a mask is that you're hidden behind it - and you can always emulate Cinderella and go home early before the unmasking...
I found that schoolchildren gained enormous confidence when given a mask for drama, 'public' speaking, etc.

The whole point about a mask is that you're hidden behind it I know that is the general idea!! but the idea of being hidden really worries me... I can't smile or express emotion with my face hidden behind there... I dislike sunglasses, glasses and hats for similar reasons, I would rather just be me, but I'm sure I'll manage! - I will definitely unmask early in the piece though!!

Terrific!
There's a shop in Chertsey (where my sister-in-law lives) that sells imported Italian carnival masks. Yours is just as good - a new career?

a new career? Well I really enjoyed making the mask and I'm really pleased with the result. I was also surprised how easy and cheap it was to make, the plastic base was only about £1, and the feathers about the same, I also had to buy some masking tape, but the paint and little jewels were already here, so I would only put total cost at about £5, no idea how much a mask like that would sell for!! - Like everything else, I'm not sure I could produce dozens the same though... Just a moment of inspiration?

Anything from £25 to £100 depending on complexity. I think the £25 ones were half masks. And there weren't dozens the same - each one was individually designed.

The mask is amazing, because it just doesn't look like you. No smile, your eyes are masked too, so it's quite scary and REALLY effective!!! Woweee! Nice dress too *g* very glam and slinky!
