Emails or fruitcake?

I have a couple of quite tricky emails I need to write tonight.. on the other hand I could just have a slice of the fruit cake that arrived in the mail today... I haven't even opened the box yet, let alone the tin! - more temptation than I can bear, the most delicious fruitcake in the world sitting there just waiting for me to yield to temptation!! - and in Lent too!

Back to emails??

Ah, this is easy! Write email #1...have half a slice of fruit cake.
Write email #2...have the rest!
And enjoy!

Sounds really good... but I think the cake is supposed to be a birthday present, and it's not my birthday for two more weeks - perhaps they wouldn't notice if I just cut a little piece? mmm...

Birthdays should last as long as possible! You wouldn't want it to go stale, wouldja?

You know very well it's for your birthday. And yes, people would notice even the tiniest piece being missing.
