Up the lake to Riva and back again!

I better post about today before I go to bed because we have a very early start in the morning when we go to Venice.

Today we travelled up the west side of the lake to Riva del Garda, stopping on the way at Limone sul Garda. The latter's name apparently really comes from a Latin word meaning frontier but that doesn't mean the place hasn't themed itself all around lemons!!! Riva was pleasant, we saw some interesting paintings in the castle and I climbed a tower in the main square for a better view of things. We caught a ferry back down the lake to Maderno, the most notable views being Malcesine where apparently a stuntman in the next James Bond movie sank a car.

We hope to return to Malcesine and go up in the cable car on Thursday, all being well.

Now the pictures:
A lemon door in Limone

Giant lemons in Limone

Still in Limone, an unusual fountain

Looking at lake Garda from Riva

A street in Riva

A view of Riva featuring the tower I climbed

Looking up the lake towards Riva from the boat

Two views of Malcesine from the ferry

And finally a view of Maderno from up in the hills

It all looks wonderful. I love the blue skies! I suspect it is a great time of the year to go. Warmish but not too busy?

Venice was really busy today but elsewhere the pace has been quite leisurely, and yes, much warmer than the frozen north!!!
