Pisa

Today we took a day trip to Pisa, about an hour from Florence by train. We walked from the station to the Piazza de Miracoli where the leaning tower and other rather grand buildings are to be seen.

We went in in the museum first, where there were lots of interesting statues and paintings, here are just a few:

After that we climbed up the Leaning Tower, which is much as I remember it, lots of steps and a glorious view from the top! Though access is much more tightly controlled and more expensive than 20 years ago, there are also a lot more safety barriers now, back then they were conspicuous by their absence, a health and safety nightmare no doubt!

After that we went and had pizza for lunch before exploring the duomo and the baptistry and the camposanto, all lovely, but I've run out of adjectives!

Then after a leisurely stroll through Pisa it was time to catch the train back to Florence. Tomorrow we will be heading home, all too soon I'm afraid!

I can see why you'd run out of adjectives! Amazing.
