Gruyere and Gstaad

Today we left the lakeside and went inland into the mountains. First we visited a cheese factory and then onto the village of Gruyere. Gruyere is built on a hilltop and is very hilly, it is also a very attractive village.

We visited the chateau at the top of the village

It contained some beautiful art, especially one room which was decorated both on the walls and the ceiling

After that we had lunch, which not surprisingly featured Cheese( I don't think it was Cheddar). Then I popped to see the Church, which was very pretty and featured some very pretty stained glass and amazing acoustics (don't ask how I discovered this!)

Then we travelled by train to Gstaad

And then back to Montreux on the Golden Panoramic Express which was very pleasant.

But we've got to ask now, even more so because you said not to. So how did you discover the acoustics were good?

Singing, shouting, playing the organ?

It looks like you are visiting some beautiful places. Look forward to more photos soon - it is becoming a virtual holiday for me.

Re: But...
Screaming at your mother? Dropping something heavy that made a melody as it hit the ground? The possibilities are endless...

Re: But...
I was completely alone in the church and started to sing (which is what I always do when I find myself in an empty church by the way!) and the sound filled the whole church and sounded lovely (even if I do say so myself!)

I have lots and lots more photos, more than you would possibly believe and probably more than any one will ever want to see! Eighty photos of today's trip alone!!
