Lausanne

Yesterday we set off early to Lausanne, it is only 15 minutes away by train from here.It is built on a slope and there were lots of steps to climb to reach the cathedral and the old town, but the cathedral was magnificent and well worth the climb.

After the cathedral we walked all the way down to the lakeside, through some pretty gardens.

The lakeside was busier than the one here, but just as attractive

When we got back to Vevey Mum went and had her hair done and I took the trolley bus to Villeneuve, where there was a very austere protestant church, with a surprisingly beautiful corner at the front.

My favourite statue of the day was this one

And this is the most unusual busker I've seen in a long time"

The old 'move along, sonny' wouldn't quite work!

That's what I thought when I saw him, but he stayed put from when we arrived until we left Lausanne!

I just want you to know that I am thinking of you there, and hoping that everything is alright with you, I wish we could sit down for a coffee and a chat together sometime!!

Thanks for thinking about me, Viv. I don't think I'll be posting any entries on LJ for a while. But I won't be far away. Keep safe travelling. Love from me
