Business or just busyness?

Over the past week I have been incredibly busy! I have also reflecting about work, or the lack of it, I mean "paid work". I have been really busy with all sorts of things, music licenses, CD design, CD orders - both placing them and fulfilling them, website design and content... and this morning I have been trying to convert a useless master document containing wrong information, into a useful leaflet which I can produce 200 of by Sunday!! This would have been much easier if I had access to the files/images used for the original but all I had was one rather poorly printed piece of card!!! - sigh! However just before lunch I managed to produce what looks like an acceptable product with all the information now correct, so I'm feeling rather pleased with myself just now! Looking back at what I've achieved in the last week there is huge variety in what I've done, there have been many challenges, most of which I've either found solutions for or found alternative ways to do...I find it hard to imagine any paid job that would offer me such a diverse range of challenges nor such a sense of satisfaction, not to mention flexibilty...if financial pressures ever forced me to find a "job" I would feel so much poorer in most other ways!!

I think it's brilliant that you are doing so many things, and such interesting and diverse things, and it's important to remember that just because you are not getting paid, it's still real work, for the real world.

And it sounds like it's very good work too.

It has never worried that most of my work is unpaid, I certainly don't think of what I do as any less valuable because of that! My contemplation of the whole thing was provoked by a friend (currently unemployed) who was complaining that even though she was busy, she was bored at home. I just find most of what I end up doing so satisfying and stimulating that I'm never even a little bit bored... and I sort of wondered why that is!!

Viv -- Howdy from Texas! I stumbled across your LJ -- I was immediately attracted by the clarinet, which I played quite well years ago, but no longer touch. Anyway, I'm adding you. Just letting you know because it's so vaguely creepy to get added out of the blue :) Pat

Welcome, thanks for commenting, it saves wondering who you are... I, too, once played the clarinet quite well, I still play most weeks, but my standard has definitely slipped from the days when I practised diligently in my teens!

I have added you too, I hope that's okay!
