Jun. 27th, 2007

I spent most of today at the zoo, with Little Fishes, on the Barnardo's Toddle. The weather there was very mixed, when we started the walk it was fine but it started to pour about half way round, so all the umbrellas and raincoats came out.

Despite the weather we had a lovely time, I even managed to have a look at some animals in between keeping an eye on all the toddlers and pushchairs....

Here are a few photos of the day:

Here we are all waiting for the toddle to begin.

And here is when the rain began.

And here are two of the cutest residents at the zoo:

I suppose the fact that it was raining cats and dogs was quite fitting really. :)

I've never walked round a zoo in pouring rain. Do most of the furry animals try to get under cover or do some of them enjoy getting wet?

It was a real mixture, I was surprised to see that the lions seemed happy out in the rain, whereas the elephants were all indoors. The monkeys were most definitely inside, but giraffes were out and about, as were camels, and as you can see from the pictures the marmots and the meerkats weren't at all worried by the dampness... It wasn't solid rain, just rather heavy at times, drizzle and even a couple of dry patches in between!!

That's an interesting mix of reactions! And with no obvious reasons!

I certainly couldn't spot much logic to it, though it was obvious that the monkeys really didn't like the rain at all!

A strong argument for evolution? *G*

Not sure!!! My sons tell me they love being out in the rain, is that evolutionary regression? *g*
