Another day in Barcelona

Today we visited the Olympic stadium on the other side of Montjuic to the castle. We started from Placa d'Espana.

On the way there we passed the Palau Nacional, which houses the National Art Museum of Catalonia.

Then we arrived at the Olympic area where we had a look around and a drink.

The plan after that was to go and see La Pedrera, but when we got there, there was a queue with a wait of over an hour for tickets, so we all went and had some lunch... and only I returned there to wait in the heat of the sun, while Ian and the boys returned to the hotel for a swim in the pool. I thought it was worth the wait... but I don't blame the others for not wanting to! Anyway here are a few photos of what I saw:

After that I went on another little excursion... unfortunately my camera battery went dead after I'd taken just one photo, I wonder if moth2fic or anyone else recognises where I went?

We might go back that way tomorrow... I saw lots of other things in that area which looked worthy of investigation!!

Ah.. this I recognise! Great photos. Thanks. You certainly seem to be enjoying your trip. Enjoy the warmth. Almost autumnal here!

Almost autumnal
Forget the almost. It is. Breezy, cold, wet. Grey skies.

Will save photo and ask Colin. You know me - I'd just say, 'Barcelona, right?' whereas he might even have a similar pic tucked away.

We queued about half an hour for La Pedrera, but I thought the exhibition and the roof were worth it, and although the 'museum' apartments weren't extraordinary museum-wise, they gave a real feel for how it must have felt to live there.

There will be more clues for the mystery photo and an answer in tonight's post!!

I think it might be Belle Vue or the hospital but I can't think how you got yourself there - we had a job finding it.

Wow, what extraordinary architecture! I'm amazed. Those towers look like kingly pineapples!
And it looks so warm and sunny. It was sunny here today but it was not warm! A real southerly bite.

Lots of wavy lines in the architecture too.

Nice to see a family pic too.

The wavy lines are mostly inspired by the ocean apparently!

Family photos are hard to come by... I'm usually behind the camera... and of course even this one doesn't really count.. we're still short of David who is in Vancouver somewhere at the moment!!
