Yesterday we caught a ferry down the lake to Sirmione, a very lovely little town situated on a long thin peninsula jutting out into Lake Garda. Sirmione is notable mainly for a beautiful castle and the remains of a Roman Villa. Both are open Tuesday to Sunday... so we visited on a Monday!!
Despite this it is a beautiful little town, with lovely olive groves, wild flowers and lake views, once the home of Maria Callas. So here are some pictures from the day:

Gardone seen from the lake

An olive grove and beautiful wild flowers

A glimpse of the Roman villa

A view of the Lake from Sirmione

The castle at Sirmione

An impressive palm tree!!
