Chris was diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia following the bone marrow investigations on Monday. His lumbar puncture also showed that his spinal fluid is clear of disease.

This is the most common form of leukaemia and the one with the best success rate in treatment, so overall the above is good news.

He started his chemotherapy yesterday, with more to come today. He is cheerful and cheeky as usual right now, long may that last...

He is looking ahead though.... Facing the imminent loss of hair, Chris is seeking interesting and stylish beanies (Beanie is the NZ word for woollen hats!) - so if any one sees a good beanie or can make one and has the inclination to help he would be very pleased!!

I'm very busy, but coping fine just now. I'm particularly pleased to find that the hospital restaurant serves really delicious curries... and at only £3 they are a bargain!!!

Hey, if I hadn't already given away my Chelsea beanie he could have had it! Of course, I can always get another. :)

Thinking of you so very much, in spite of all my frivolity with the game tonight, which must seem so meaningless in times like this. I so hope your road is a smooth one for you all, with as few of those wretched bumps as possible. Think you are all immense and I know you will bring something special to the unit, not that that is top of your list of wishes just now.

No, I'm sure he wouldn't welcome a Chelsea beanie. Already too many goals in this game. I'm still trying to work out how both teams can lose.

Thinking about you as usual. At least you know the definite diagnosis, which is often easier than waiting and wondering. And at least the treatment is often successful. We shall all be watching his progress and cheering all improvements. Tell him we expect to see photographs of him modelling whatever beanies people come up with!
Lots of love and hugs and hope.

I've been looking at beanie hats this morning on the internet. I've decided that I've not a clue when it comes to knowing what is interesting and stylish. Perhaps Chris can start two collections. One for those beanies he likes and one called "I can't believe anyone would think I'd like to wear that"!
It was good to read that the spinal fluid is clear of disease, another tick in the box on the road to recovery.
As for you being busy, you do need to look after yourself too. Remember I'm here if you need anything of the mundane tasks doing.

I am glad you have a proper diagnosis now,no more wondering. Good that the treatment has already started.

Thinking of you all, and concentrating on a successful therapy for Chris.
Take care of you too.

I'll be bringing an Australian beanie with me when I come over (very similar to the New Zealand variety *g*) to add to the collection. Glad you have a diagnosis and can start to move forward.

My best wishes to you all, as always.
