Yesterday was an interesting day, not only was it Mothering Sunday, but as Ian has already mentionedin his lj, Steve our rector announced that he will be leaving our church at the end of August to take up a position in Manchester. I am really sad to hear this, I will miss him and especially his musical talent, and after a year full of goodbyes, more farewells are not really welcome. However, personal feelings aside, I think it probably a good thing, the timing of the move is really good for him, and the parish he is going to sounds well suited to his skills, I think it will be good for our church too, because although Steve is well liked and has done heaps of positive things in the life of the church, I think the church is ready for some new challenges which a new rector will bring. Now of course everyone is wondering who the new rector will be, a futile speculation, since no one has a clue even who the potential might be! Meanwhile he still has five more months with us, which is quite a long time really!

In other news, we went to see Mum in the afternoon, while Matthew's friend Haodong came to visit and David went to archery. Margaret phoned and is coming round this afternoon to sort out a computer problem and Debbi came round for coffee and chat after the evening service last night.
