We went back to our church St Andrews in Bebington today. It was great to be there and to be welcomed by so many people who know either Ian or me, we are in the strange position of being newcomers who already know heaps of people. Today was Tearfund Sunday and we had a guest speaker called Brian Avery who had some association with the G8 conference. He gave an interesting sermon on the results of G8 and the Christian response to poverty. It provoked lots of discussion on the way home with the boys, Matthew was particularly interested in debating the comparison he made between the debt situation in Africa today and postwar Germany. In contrast the afternoon was exhausting with a huge amount of work to do in the house to prepare for the arrival of a new bed tomorrow, two bedrooms to clear on a really sweltering afternoon. Not that I'm really complaining about the glorious weather.

Glorious weather? That's great!
Matthew might be heading for law and social justice LOL!
We had an amazing sermon too, yesterday, from a visiting priest about the depth of hatred in Muslim countries for the West, and how although we may not comprehend it, we need to be able to hear it, their grief, their anger, because I think he meant if there was more listening, there would be less frustration.

Matthew can't decide between law and politics as a career.
