It's a sculpture of Father Time, it's situated right by the river, and is a totally amazing sight! I don't think it as famous as many of the sights in Washington but for me it was in many ways the most impressive of all!

No, I don't think they went there on the travel programme the other day. But it sure is impressive. Was this from your journey from NZ to the UK?

No, we visited DC three times, before the children were born, each time visiting our friend David (Ian's best man) who was working for the IMF there at the time.

Three times? Three times? OMG! I am so jealous!!! But that's great. You should be writing the Samfics, not me! heh

Our best man is currently spending a year travelling across the Americas, Europe and Asia with his wife. I wouldn't mind visiting them there somewhere!! Maybe Christmas in China!

Our best man has lived in Switzerland and has travelled to all sorts of fascinating places as part of his job, he missed my 40th birthday party because he was in Tanzania!!

The trips to DC were amazing, we also visited New York, Baltimore and Philadelphia, as well as Mexico City while we were staying with David, (so many photos to scan!) though the Mexican ones are already on my website at www.vivh.com/mexico.html if you're interested!

Mexico was awesome, I would love to go back and see more of the country. However my very best memory of our time in Mexico City isn't recorded in a photo, we went to a lovely restaurant for an absolutely wonderful meal, which included the famous Mole Poblano. The food was just divine, but the highlight of the evening was when ringbark was selected out of the guests to join the Mexican dancers who were providing entertainment for the evening! I so wish I'd taken my camera that evening!
