Apart from the dentist, yesterday was quite a good day, actually even the dentist wasn't too painful! Any way I achieved quite a lot on all fronts, all of my phonecalls are made and now I'm just waiting on a response to an e mail I sent asking for clarification on something. Otherwise the house is looking tidier than it has in the last week, I got lots of laundry done.I also finished a poster for the Pentecost party and finished sorting out material for the display on Crosslinks. My friend Margaret joined us for a very pleasant meal last night, we had salmon steaks and a fairly inteesting chat!
Today I have Little Fishes, and in the evening we have the Annual Parochial Church Meeting to "look forward" to! I've been studying the Parish financial review with "interest",(no really, there are some matters which are a little puzzling in there!) Otherwise a fairly quiet day I think, but who knows!!

Steve's father used to grab the annual financial statement of his parish and check out his priest's travel costs and then have a good rave about him! Every year. Man, it seemed that that priest got around LOL!

Actually I really hate financial statements etc, but I feel as a "responsible citizen" I should at least take an active interest, on this occasion the accounts look fine, but some of the treasurers comments don't quite seem to reflect the figures, which is interesting. I won't raise any of my questions at the meeting because I hate that sort of fuss, but all the same, I would like some explanation - it must be all those years of being financial bod on the Board of Trustees catching up with me!

Ooh, you did the BoT thing? That's one thing I haven't done, and don't think I ought to *g*!

You could write and ask for a private type of explanation maybe?

I was on the BoT for Avalon Intermediate, and also earlier on the Board of Governance for Heretaunga Kindergarten Association. I did actually find it quite interesting, and the latter was particularly so, because another smaller association merged with us and we had to write a new constitution! My favourite parts were staffing and disciplinary parts, there you could make a tangible difference. Finance was probably the thing I found least interesting, though it is obviously important, and I had a competent understanding of what was involved.

I'm a good committee person, I can manage the tedium quite well, and know how to use bureaucratic systems to actually achieve things, it's like playing a complex game really, all right if you understand the rules.

Wow, I'm hopeless with financial stuff. And as for this

I'm hopeless at that too. I get terribly restless and irritable in meetings, and I try to cut things short and get out of there. I'm a terrible committee person, which is why I've stayed away from the BoT, I'd ruin it for sure!!!
